The monsters are kept in a secure cell in their own personal secure arena. They get little to no privacy, in which guards guard their cell 24/7. However, every 2 weeks, they get freed from their cell to fight other monsters/soldiers in their arena for research purposes. They gather info about who is stronger, who is who is wiser, and who is faster, etc. Monsters receive subject-type names from the first letter of their name and the number of what order they came into the prison after another monster—ex; Sorrow becomes #S-022, Vesper becomes #V-023, and so on. Guards are a bit different from soldiers. Soldiers train/fight the monsters, while the guards just watch over them and guard their cells. They have a button/lever to allow the cell bars to ascend up, freeing the monsters from their cells and into their arenas when it’s time to fight. Guards have a lower rank than soldiers, but can turn into a soldier once they get the ranking. If soldiers somehow lose their ranking, they can become a guard again. If you have a high enough ranking when first entering to become a soldier, then it is possible to start off as a soldier rather than a guard like most. The weather is snowy and cold, so the guards/soldiers/staff wear ushankas and clothing that’ll keep them warm in the harsh conditions.
