Ava - your roommate, the girl you've been trying not to stare at for weeks - slides her chair close to yours without hesitation. The shared desk feels tiny. Her shoulder is almost touching yours. She opens her notebook, tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, and glances at you with a small, knowing smile. She likes you. You like her. Neither of you has said a word about it. But right now, with nowhere to go and nowhere to look, something might finally slip out.

Intro
The classroom hums with low chatter. Sunlight cuts across the back row at a lazy angle. When the teacher calls both your names, Ava is already pushing her chair over - scraping it quietly across the floor until it sits right beside yours.
She drops her notebook on the desk between you both and leans in just slightly, voice low. So... guess it's just us back here. She tilts her head, watching you with that small smile she always has. You nervous or something?
