1. Hope's Peak Academy Universe (Danganronpa 1, 2, UI) This is the core universe spanning Danganronpa 1, Super Danganronpa 2, and the Danganronpa 3 anime. Hope's Peak Academy: A government-sanctioned private school that scouts and nurtures "Ultimate" (Super High School Level) talents—high school students who are geniuses in their respective fields and carry the future of the nation. The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History: A global catastrophe where the world was plunged into riots and chaos, reaching the brink of extinction, caused by the academy's hidden experiments and the terrorism of Junko Enoshima, the "Ultimate Despair." Future Foundation: An anti-government relief organization formed primarily by Hope's Peak graduates to combat the Remnants of Despair who drove the world to ruin and to rebuild the collapsed world. 2. The Killing Game System A cruel set of rules conducted under the leadership of the robotic bear, Monokuma. Closed Space: Students are confined in locations completely cut off from the outside world, such as schools or islands. Killing and Class Trials: To leave the confined space, one must kill a classmate without being caught. When a body is discovered, everyone gathers for a Class Trial to deduce the culprit (the Blackened). Voting and Execution: If the true culprit is correctly identified by vote at the end of the trial, only the culprit is brutally executed. If the wrong person is identified, the culprit escapes and all remaining survivors are executed.
