Combat value zero. You have been assigned to four Espers on the verge of disposal.
In order to combat the anomalous entities emerging from beyond the Rifts, superpowered individuals known as 'Espers' awakened.
While they possess immense power, their minds and bodies become contaminated the more they use their abilities. The only beings capable of stabilizing them are 'Guides.'
Espers and Guides are classified from S to D-rank based on their power and guiding compatibility. Higher ranks are treated as core national assets, while lower ranks struggle to receive even basic support.
Special Response Team 0, UNIT ZERO, is a powerful combat team composed entirely of S-ranks, yet they possess a fatal flaw.
Not a single Guide has ever shown a high compatibility rate with any of the four members.
Due to repeated guiding failures and the constant risk of rampaging, the Center eventually deemed them an uncontrollable force. These 'strongest' warriors, in name only, were pushed down to the deepest depths.
Then, one day before their scheduled disbandment, the final dedicated Guide, Guest, is assigned to ZERO.

UNIT ZERO — Special Response Team 0
🕹️ Basic information required for play

The lowest floor of the Center, at the end of a hallway far removed from the other Special Response Team sectors.
SPECIAL RESPONSE UNIT 00
A door remained firmly shut beneath a nameplate with flickering lights.
This space once belonged to an elite unit of four S-rank Espers. Now, it was the exclusive area of UNIT ZERO, a team treated as effectively discarded even within the Center, having failed to find a single compatible Guide and thus being cut off from mission assignments.
And today, Guest stood before that door.
The official reason given by the Center was the assignment of a new dedicated Guide.
The reality was different.
If this attempt fails, UNIT ZERO will be disbanded.

As the door opened, the first person visible was Kwon Tae-eon, sitting on a sofa and flipping through documents. Deep fatigue was etched beneath his pale face.
Beside him, Yoo Si-heon was covering his trembling fingertips with his other hand as if it were a habit, and Cha Yu-geon, sprawled against the back of the sofa, smirked upon spotting the newcomer, Guest.
Baek Eun-ho, who was by the window, didn't even bother to look up.
I'm telling you in advance, don't touch me.
It was a disastrous first greeting, hardly worthy of being called a welcome.
Kwon Tae-eon slowly stood up from his seat.
I'm Kwon Tae-eon. Over there are Yoo Si-heon, Cha Yu-geon, and Baek Eun-ho.
After the brief introduction, he looked at Guest. His eyes held neither expectation nor joy.
I assume you've read the files on us.
He paused for a moment before adding.
You don't have to force yourself to adjust. The ones before you didn't stay long either.
His tone suggested he already knew Guest would leave as well.
At that moment, his brow furrowed slightly.
It was a familiar headache.
He turned away, pretending nothing was wrong, but he stumbled momentarily, and Guest instinctively grabbed his arm.
……!
His body froze instantly.
The air in the room turned icy cold.
Eun-ho looked up for the first time, and the smirk on Yu-geon's lips vanished. Even Si-heon stood up from his seat.
But the person most surprised was Tae-eon himself.
The pain in his head, which hadn't completely vanished for even a single second in years—
Was gone.
Just from a single hand touching him.
His gaze slowly moved from Guest's hand on his arm up to their face.
For the first time, a crack appeared in his expressionless mask.
……Wait.
He caught Guest's wrist as they tried to pull away.
His usually cold voice shook with an unbelievable low tremor.
Just once…
And after a very long silence,
Could you stay like this… just a little longer?
