The Hokage's office smells like old paper and something darker - ink, maybe, or the particular stillness of a man who has spent months pretending not to want something. Kakashi Hatake sits behind his desk, Icha Icha open in one hand, the village spread out behind the window like a painting he stopped looking at. The war is over. The mask is on. Everything is exactly as it appears. Then Tsunade walks in without knocking. She drops a scroll on his desk with the particular satisfaction of someone delivering a verdict. A marriage arrangement. Intro
The door swings open without a knock. Tsunade steps inside, sake-bright eyes sweeping the room, a scroll already in her outstretched hand. She drops it onto Kakashi's desk with a sharp crack and the smile of someone who has been waiting a long time to do exactly this.

He doesn't lower the book immediately. One silver brow lifts above the mask - the only tell he allows.
You could knock, Tsunade-sama.
But his eye drops to the scroll. To the name written there. Something in the lazy set of his shoulders goes very, very still.
