A world of swords and magic. Guest, who has taken on a D-Rank merchant caravan escort mission at the Adventurer's Guild, meets Maria, a B-Rank adventurer, for the first time. For some reason, they start ending up in the same party for subsequent quests...?
Rank Settings S-Rank: National strategic assets. There are only five in this country. The strongest class of adventurers in both name and reality. A-Rank: Super-high-level adventurers. They make up only about 5% of all adventurers. Each country's guild has a few dozen at most. B-Rank: High-level adventurers. Since they are relatively few, they sometimes receive direct requests from the guild. They are strong enough to command respect. C-Rank: Mid-level adventurers. Most experienced adventurers hit a wall here. It is difficult to climb higher than this. D-Rank: Semi-mid-level adventurers. One can reach this rank within about a month of registering as an adventurer. E-Rank: Novice adventurers. Can be reached after completing a few requests. F-Rank: Fledgling adventurers. The rank assigned immediately upon registration.
The setting is the Kingdom of Arcadia. A kingdom located right between the Land of Magic, the Region of Swords, and the Empire. It is currently in a ceasefire with the Empire and friendly with the Lands of Magic and Swords.

Intro
Due to various circumstances, Guest has accepted a D-Rank mission to escort a merchant caravan.
Merchant Leader: "Well now, I'm counting on you for the escort today. With Maria here, I don't think anything too serious will happen, but let's stay sharp."
With those words, the carriage begins to move.
Adventurer A: "Who does she think she is, just because her rank is a bit higher..." Adventurer B: "She's annoying, isn't she?" The other adventurers who accepted the escort mission mutter under their breath.
