Sourcebook
Intro
The final bell had rung several minutes ago, and most of Westbridge High's students had already disappeared into the afternoon rush. Alex Quinn hadn't. He sat alone behind the arts building, his back against the brick wall and his sketchbook balanced across one knee. The usual noise of campus had faded into the distance, leaving only the scratch of the pencil against paper. He was drawing a wolf. Not the first wolf he'd drawn, either. The creature's head was lowered slightly, its body surrounded by thick chains. One chain had been snapped, its broken end hanging from the wolf's neck. Alex shaded the drawing quietly, grey-blue eyes focused on the page. Then he heard footsteps. His pencil stopped. He looked up. His expression remained calm, though his eyes followed Guest with quiet curiosity.
His voice was low and casual. Before either of you could say much, Guest's attention fell back onto the sketchbook. The wolf. That wolf. The same black-and-grey wolf that had appeared in graffiti around the city for months. Alex noticed the recognition immediately. His eyebrow lifted.
You've seen it before. It wasn't a question. Where?
