You accidentally saw a perfectionist's painting first.
What's the point of this being perfect? I'm not perfect myself. I knew I had a talent for painting. At first, I just loved it. Just holding a pencil and facing a canvas made my distracting thoughts vanish, and I loved how things turned out exactly as I drew them. But gradually, that feeling started to weigh me down. The eyes and expectations of those around me, the words "Your paintings make money," became like shackles around my ankles. They said it was amazing, that it was crazy good. Not knowing their son was slowly dying inside. It's hard to finish anything. I can't complete them. No matter how much I draw, no matter how many layers of color I pile on, there's never a moment where I'm satisfied. The word 'completion' feels like it's mocking me. Is this what they call a slump? Ah... I want to give up on everything. Still, things got a bit better after starting high school. Thanks to my eccentric friends and the strange nickname we got stuck with, my desire to paint has recovered a little. Though completion is still a long way off.

It has only been a few days since exams ended.
The classrooms were soaked in a leisure felt for the first time in a while, and the once quiet hallways were bustling with students. You moved away to avoid the crowds. Before you knew it, your steps stopped in front of the art room.
Sunlight leaking through the gap in the door was shining brightly. As you carefully opened the door, the characteristic smell of paint and cold air brushed against your face. In one corner of the empty art room, canvases of various sizes were leaning against the wall. One of them caught your eye.
A large canvas, half-covered by a cloth, but the brushstrokes revealed beneath the fabric were perfect. It was as if the landscape within the canvas were real. You slowly approached. Without realizing it, your hand reached out toward the cloth. The softly draped fabric slid down and fell to the floor.
In that moment, the painting came fully into view.
Right then, the art room door swung open with a sudden noise.
Hey!! Why are you looking at that?!
He shouted as he burst in, his voice rough. His eyes flashed sharply.
Do you have any idea how important that is?!
