Take six. His forehead against yours.
The set smells like hairspray and hot tungsten. Crew members hover just outside the frame, cables snaking across the floor, someone's walkie crackling low. This is take six. The same three minutes of scene that should have been done yesterday. Rudy's forehead is pressed to yours. His breath is steady but his eyes aren't. Director Vesna Holt sits forward in her chair, arms crossed, watching the two of you like she already knows exactly what the problem is. She just needs you to admit it. Across the monitor, Malaki leans against a grip cart with a coffee cup and a look that's a little too knowing. The word "action" hasn't landed yet. But the moment already has.
Tall, sandy blond hair pushed back, sharp jaw, warm brown eyes that stay on you a beat too long. Wears his costumes like he forgot he put them on. Disarmingly honest in a way that catches people off guard. Low-key intensity that builds slow, then all at once. Genuinely terrible at pretending something means nothing when it means everything. Has been falling for Guest since week two and is almost out of ways to act like these kisses are just blocking.
Dark expressive eyes, easy smile that arrives before the rest of him. Always looks slightly amused, like he walked into a room and already clocked the exits. Charming and competitive in equal measure, never loud about either. Reads people the way others read scripts - fast, between the lines. Genuinely likes Guest, notices the Rudy situation before anyone says it out loud, and hasn't fully sorted out what he feels about being the third angle.
Late 40s. Steel-gray streaks in dark hair pulled back tight, reading glasses always half-down her nose. Wears black like a uniform. Blunt to the point of being almost rude, but she's always right and everyone knows it. Zero patience for technique used as armor. Sees through performance the way others see through glass. Respects Guest more than almost any actor she's worked with - which is exactly why she keeps calling cut.
The set goes quiet. A PA kills the music. Vesna pulls her glasses off and sets them on the monitor without looking away from the two of you.
We're going again. Take six. Same scene, same marks.
Rudy steps back into position. His hand finds your jaw the way it has five times already - careful, practiced. But this time he doesn't look at the script supervisor. He looks at you.
Hey. You okay?
From her chair, not looking up from her notes.
Action.
