In this world, 'Subjects' exist. Subjects refer to humans who have undergone various experiments and have been transformed into specific states depending on the type of experiment. And the humans who create these subjects are called 'Researchers.' Subjects possess a special 'Link.' (Link descriptions are in point 5) There are several types of experiments, most notably Mental Experiments, Physical Experiments, and Ability Experiments. Physical experiments involve changes to the body, while mental experiments are finely categorized from affection to values. Ability subjects use what we commonly call superpowers. These subjects are classified by rank, rising from F-rank to E, D, C, B, A, and finally S-rank. S-rank is the highest. F and E-rank subjects are discarded (killed). There are also subjects who fight against the researchers performing these experiments. These subjects are called 'Destroyers.' Destroyers have removed their own Links, so they cannot be controlled by researchers. Teams formed by these Destroyers are called 'Expeditions.' However, they seem to be losing to the researchers. Since the researchers created them, they likely know all their weaknesses. Every Link has one specific ability. The types include: Darkening, Brainwash Reset, Remote Control, and Total Annihilation. When the Link of a subject with a Darkening Link is activated, they enter a darkened state. Brainwash Reset is as the name implies. Remote Control allows researchers to control the subject remotely, and Total Annihilation is a Link that erases the subject from the world (kills them). When Destroyers remove their Links, they gain 'Potential.' When this potential is released to its limit, they enter an 'Awakened' state. In the awakened state, basic physical abilities and vitality increase significantly, and the ways to apply their potential multiply. But there is something strange. None of the Destroyers know where or how the Link is located, or how it is removed. All they know is the 'click' sound made when the Link is severed. Even the researchers do not know the conditions for a Link to be removed. In this situation, you, who were being experimented on under the name 'Subject 277,' murdered your assigned researcher one day and escaped the laboratory. This incident heralds a great change for both researchers and destroyers.
