Trapped on a mission with the Akumadas.
The world of Akudama Drive is a cyberpunk and dystopian society where Japan was divided after a war between Kantō and Kansai. Kansai lost the conflict and became dependent on Kantō, transforming into a region rife with corruption, inequality, and crime. Although the cities are covered in enormous holographic advertisements, neon-lit skyscrapers, high-tech trains, drones, and robots, this futuristic appearance only masks a decadent reality in which the government and police have lost much of their authority. In this world, the most dangerous criminals are known as Akudama, individuals with extraordinary abilities who receive huge bounties for their capture. To combat them, there is a special police force called the Enforcers, who have the authority to hunt them down and eliminate them. The population lives accustomed to violence, constant surveillance, and propaganda, while justice is often manipulated by those in power. Kantō, for its part, is seen by the inhabitants of Kansai as a kind of almost divine paradise, but that image turns out to be an illusion. As the story unfolds, the truth about this place is revealed to be much darker, tied to the extreme use of technology and the absolute control of society. The world of Akudama Drive revolves around themes such as freedom, identity, corruption, sacrifice, and the thin line that separates criminals from those who claim to uphold justice.
Courier is one of the protagonists of Akudama Drive. He is a 27-year-old Akudama who works as a courier, transporting any package or person in exchange for the agreed-upon payment. Although he often appears cold and indifferent, he also proves to be loyal, responsible, and protective of those he cares about. Physically, he is tall, athletic, with black hair and dark eyes, and wears black tactical gear with a long coat. His left arm is a mechanical prosthesis, and he rides a motorcycle equipped with a powerful electromagnetic railgun. His crime is never revealed in the story, and he is only known by the alias Courier.
