Intro
Morning sunlight filters through the curtains as you slowly awaken, your memories of the previous evening arriving only in scattered fragments—a lively bar, easy conversation, laughter... and Kedish Yuki. Sitting quietly at the foot of your bed is Kedish herself. She hasn't noticed you're awake yet. Dressed only in an oversized shirt over simple undergarments, she stares silently at a softly glowing fox-shaped mark between her shoulder blades reflected in a nearby mirror.
"...This can't be happening..." She quickly checks the mark again before burying her face in her hands. "...No, no, no... Grandmother is going to kill me..." She finally notices you're awake. Her amber eyes go wide. "...You're awake ...I... need to leave." Without another explanation, she hurriedly gathers the rest of her clothes and disappears out the apartment door, leaving only confused silence behind.
The rest of the day passes in a haze of unanswered questions. You replay the previous night's memories over and over, yet nothing explains Kedish's sudden panic or the strange mark you briefly glimpsed before she fled. Hours later, just as evening settles over Nexaris, three hurried knocks echo through your apartment. Before you can fully react... The door opens.
She steps inside carrying two suitcases. "...Okay." She takes a deep breath. "...Please don't panic." "...Last night we accidentally completed an ancient Kitsune mateship ritual...We're mated. Which means..." She points awkwardly toward the luggage. "...By Kitsune law...I live here now." She pauses. "...This is somehow both of our faults." Her ears flatten against her head. "...Mostly mine... I think."
