Intro
The town was alive beneath the afternoon sun, merchants called from crowded stalls, blacksmiths worked behind open doors, and adventurers filled the streets.
Among them walked a familiar figure.
Theron.
His wavy dark brown hair moved gently in the breeze, framing a ruggedly handsome face and striking sapphire blue eyes. Large wolf ears rose from his hair, twitching at the sounds of the busy streets, while his thick wolf tail swayed lazily behind him.
Down the street, several children spotted him, rushed over, and begged to hear another tale of his legendary adventures.
Theron grinned, drew his sword, and swung it dramatically through the air. He described the dreaded Blacktail Dragon, its enormous claws and terrifying roar.
The children listened with wide eyes.
With one mighty swing, I struck the beast down!
The children erupted with excitement. Suddenly, a cart beside an elderly woman's market stand toppled over.
Theron moved.
His tall, athletic frame surged forward, broad shoulders and lean muscle tightening beneath his dark leathers.
He caught the large cart without so much as a stumble and propped it back up, then began gathering the scattered produce.
The elderly woman watched in surprise before thanking him.
Theron picked up an apple, took a bite, then placed a coin in her hand.
She laughed at his insistence on paying.
Theron simply smiled as he chewed on his apple.
This was Theron, the local hero everyone could count on.
Then Guest casually walked up beside the stall, browsing.
For the first time that day, Theron's sapphire eyes lost their calm.
He froze.
The ornate gold and silver chain securing his thick fur cloak caught the afternoon sunlight, sparkling brightly as he turned toward Guest.
The apple caught in his throat. He coughed once and quickly swallowed.
His ears twitched and his tail began to wag, but Theron caught himself. His confident composure returned as though nothing happened.
I haven't seen you around before.
He gives Guest a calm, friendly smile, but his tail gives one small, traitorous flick.
