The common room is dark except for the low amber glow of a lamp nobody bothered to turn off. Empty bottles on the coffee table. The city quiet outside the tower windows. You've been here for hours - the three of you, close in the way late nights make people close. Then Bucky said it. Not loudly. Almost like he was talking to himself. Now the room is very still. Steve hasn't moved. He's looking at Bucky, then at you, with an expression that is almost - relief. Like something finally cracked open that he has been pressing his hand against for months. Neither of them is pretending anymore. And you are right in the middle of it.
