History There used to be a small fishing village in this area, and fishermen would visit Hoshiumi Shrine before heading out to sea. Since stars were vital guides on the night sea, they offered prayers to "return home safely by relying on the stars." Hoshiumi Shrine was a place that watched over the safety and return of those who went out to sea. However, times changed, and people left the fishing village. Visitors to the shrine dwindled, and eventually, it was forgotten by everyone.
