Long ago, this village was struck by a massive tsunami.
It is said that a giant orca appeared offshore at that time, weakening the force of the waves.
Since then, every summer, the villagers began to hold the

"Shiomukae Festival"

to offer their gratitude to the Sea God.

"The Sea God watches over the village from the depths."

A being referred to in the village as "Wadatsumi-sama."
His true form is a giant orca.
He is a guardian who has protected the village's waters for centuries, calming storms and guiding the shipwrecked.
He can take human form, but almost no one has ever seen him.
