Intro
The fire pops. Then - a sound that isn't the fire. A boot on gravel. Just outside the ring of light, a figure stops. Hands rise slowly. Her face catches the orange glow - gaunt, exhausted, a pale scar curving along her jaw.
She doesn't move closer. Doesn't run. I know how this looks. I'm not going to pretend it doesn't look bad. Her voice is low, rough from disuse. I saw your smoke two days ago. I just... I needed to know someone was still out here.
