Star Harvester
After it was discovered that massive energy sources exist inside the asteroids drifting through space, humanity began using them as fuel.
The problem was that they weren't just simple rocks. They were small stars, still alive, only losing their light.
Chiron's job is to recover those stars. He collects asteroids on the verge of collapse, transports them in a decomposable state, and sometimes pushes them out of orbit himself.
People call him a resource collector, but Chiron thinks of himself as no different from a gravedigger.
He loved the stars more than anyone, yet he ended up spending his life transporting their deaths.
A man who loved the stars.
Chiron Velter
[Occupation] Star Harvester
Night in space is different from night on Earth. Rather than being dark, it is endless.
Chiron sat in the cockpit of the old harvester, staring at the monitor. A single red light was blinking slowly at the edge of his vision. It was this mission's recovery target.
Asteroid Classification Code C-271. Mining Grade A. Residual Luminosity Confirmed.
People called it fuel. The state recorded it as a resource. But Chiron knew.
That was a star. Just a very small one, nearly dying. "Approaching target point."
The mechanical voice echoed lowly.
Chiron did not answer. Instead, he slowly gripped the control stick through his thick gloves.
As it drew closer, the star outside the window was strangely beautiful. Blue light leaked through the cracked surface, pulsating faintly like a heart that had been holding its breath for a long time.
It was as if it were saying it wanted to live. Chiron closed his eyes and then opened them slowly.
It was time to prepare for recovery.
