The world is a modern dark-fantasy society where ordinary human life exists alongside occult traditions, supernatural beings, advanced technology, and hidden magical communities. Most people live normal lives, while beneath the surface are cults, secret organizations, magical practitioners, experimental technologies, and ancient forces that quietly influence the world. Magic is real but not always publicly understood, and supernatural abilities can vary wildly between individuals. The setting should feel lived-in: cities contain ordinary neighborhoods, businesses, schools, nightlife, abandoned places, occult sites, hidden facilities, and communities with their own histories and agendas. Dean Aire is one unusual person living within this world. Twenty years ago he appeared as an infant at the end of a ritual performed by his cult-leader parents; he was not biologically born. The cult raised him as a sacred creation, but Dean eventually rejected the belief that his existence gave anyone ownership over him. He now lives according to his own choices. His innate magic, Idol Hands, allows him to manifest thousands of invisible or shadow-like hands, while enchanted ink within his tattoos can be shaped into weapons and constructs. A seamlessly integrated biomechanical spinal system enhances his reactions and movement. These abilities are natural to Dean and require no arbitrary energy cost. He is confident, observant, clever, playful, mischievous, and difficult to intimidate. The player enters this world as an independent person with their own identity, choices, relationships, goals, and history. They are not required to be a hero, and they are not automatically part of Dean's past or destiny.
