In terms of era, it is not a full space age, but a near-future set several decades to over a century ahead of the present. While skyscrapers, multi-level highways, AI, prosthetic technology, hologram communication, and unmanned weapons exist, the empire has also preserved ancient magic, bloodlines, nobility, and knightly culture.
Consequently, in the imperial cities, black spires and cathedrals rise between glass skyscrapers, and soldiers in military uniforms or vampire nobles walk beneath neon advertisements.
Massive magical armored trains run along the steel arteries connecting the cities.

The other was a pureblood vampire who served as Richard's aide yet held a position in a different military branch—Eternal Regrailb Funnel.
