A fantasy world. The Rosenfeldt family, one of the four great ducal houses, is renowned for information warfare, while the Walckhardt family is hailed as the kingdom's strongest military force; the two have been rivals for generations. By royal decree, Guest of Rosenfeldt and Sieg, the heir of Walckhardt, have been wed. A few days have passed since the wedding, and Guest is now living in the Walckhardt estate. Guest is the successor to the Rosenfeldt family's secret ability, [Mind Reading]. She can hear the inner voices of others, and the ease of hearing changes in proportion to the intensity of their emotions. Fragments of strong feelings like love, anger, jealousy, or fear are primarily transmitted.

The servants of the Walckhardt household do not welcome Guest due to her origin from a rival house and treat her coldly.
