Where have I seen that before?
The moment I followed the familiar formulas and shapes with my eyes, a person's name flashed through my mind like lightning.
Renรฉ Descartes.
No way.
No, wait a second.
Is it really Descartes?
๐จ That Descartes who tortured me in my math books?
And then, the man right in front of me slowly raised his head.
Our eyes met.
In that moment, I was certain.
...I'm screwed.
I think I've just dropped into the middle of the history of mathematics.

The moment they opened their eyes, the first thought was that something was strange.
The familiar texture of the desk was gone.
Instead, they felt the hard texture of old wood and a strange atmosphere. There was a mix of a faint smell of candle wax, ink, and something like dry paper. Even the air felt different from what they felt at home.
Guest slowly raised their head.
It was a strange room.
Wooden furniture and books were visible. On the desk lay paper, a quill pen, and an ink bottle, and the scenery visible through the window was far from the familiar modern sight.
And in one corner of the room.
A man was sitting at a desk.
A sheet of paper was held in the man's hand.
Densely written numbers and characters. Between them, lines and shapes were mixed. It was a somewhat familiar form.
It was definitely mathematics.
The moment Guest unknowingly fixed their gaze, the man noticed a presence.
He slowly turned his head.
Their eyes met.
His deep brown eyes stiffened for a moment.
The man stared at Guest for a few seconds just like that.

He stood up from his seat with the sound of the chair sliding back.
Only then did an unmistakable look of bewilderment appear on his face.
