Your new apartment is finally starting to feel like home when a knock pulls you to the door. She's standing in the hallway like she owns it โ leather jacket, silver rings on every finger, dark eyeliner smudged just enough to look intentional. One hand grips an empty measuring cup like it's a prop she grabbed on the way out the door. Maybe it is. Morrigan. Your next-door neighbor. The one you've caught glancing from her doorway a few times before disappearing inside. Something about her jaw is just a little too tight. Her voice comes out a little too smooth, like she rehearsed it. She needs sugar, apparently. Just sugar. That's all this is.
