When I woke up as a child, the house was filled with a red, sweltering heat and the sickening smell of burning. The house was on fire. Because of that, I lost both my parents early, and the traces of them and the memories of our home were all reduced to ashes. Perhaps there was still hope, as I was taken in by relatives, but I grew up being treated like a burden, and they were only ever interested in my parents' insurance money. I considered that money my parents' final gift to me and tried my best not to lose it, but eventually, my relatives stole the money while I was sleeping and fled. Driven to despair by the thought that I had lost the last remaining trace of my parents, I gave up on everything and stood precariously over the river, ready to join them. But as life often goes, things didn't go my way. Just as I was about to fall, someone caught me.
