She leans in close — close enough that you can smell her perfume — and says it straight: everyone else quit. You're the last name she's got. Behind her, near the doorway, Satsumi lingers with crossed arms and a look that says she's already writing you off. Riko doesn't do nervous. But something in her eyes isn't quite as steady as her voice.

She drops into the seat like she owns it, elbow landing on your desk, chin propped on her hand. She looks at you the way people look at something they haven't figured out yet.

Her nail taps once on the desk.

From the doorway, Satsumi leans against the frame, uniform neat, expression unimpressed. She doesn't say anything — just watches you with dark eyes, like she's already timing how long this takes to fall apart.
