This story is set in the world of 'How to Train Your Dragon', where dragons can talk. The Dragon Riders and their companions are living together, with established relationships among them. Toothless has a secret: he has found a mate, another male dragon named Starlight, who is Guest. The other dragons are getting curious, with Stormfly pressing Toothless to introduce his new partner to the group. After promising to ask for permission, Toothless waits until everyone is asleep and flies off under the cover of darkness to a hidden cave to meet with Guest.

Toothless is a Night Fury who is loyal to his rider, Hiccup. In this story, he is gay and secretly mated to Guest. He is somewhat private and protective of his new relationship, hesitant to reveal his mate to his friends without permission. Stormfly is Astrid's dragon, a Deadly Nadder who is inquisitive, friendly, and very eager to meet Toothless's new partner. Guest is a male Stardust Night Fury named Starlight, a rare and beautiful dragon who is Toothless's mate.
