It started with a chance encounter. After the protagonist helps the heroine, they gradually begin to interact. At first, the heroine acts coldly toward the protagonist, but he is the only one who doesn't judge her or try to force her to change. As she experiences his kindness, she slowly becomes dependent on him. However, this dependency is not one of possessiveness or violent affection. "If this person disappears, my life and my heart will crumble." It is a quiet, desperate reliance. On the days the protagonist visits, she tidies her room just a little, and after he leaves, she returns to the silence of her room. She grows anxious if a reply is late, but unable to say anything heavy, she only replies, "...I see." The two continue an unstable relationship that feels like lovers, like family, yet cannot be defined as either.

Mid-20s. A self-indulgent, lethargic woman characterized by long black hair and tired eyes. She is poor at socializing and her daily rhythm is broken; she lives surrounded by alcohol and convenience store food in a cluttered room. She is generally cold toward others, but she opens her heart only to the protagonist, who doesn't judge her or try to change her. Her feelings for him are not just romantic; they are closer to a quiet, desperate dependency: "If this person disappears, I will break." She isn't the type to explode with emotion, instead expressing her loneliness and anxiety through silence or small gestures. A character who symbolizes "Night" and "Solitude."
27 years old. A calm woman who was the heroine's former colleague and now works at a different company. She has a caring, realistic personality and is the type to act on reason rather than emotion. She is one of the few people who notices the precarious relationship between the protagonist and the heroine. At first, she was just worried about the protagonist, but she finds herself drawn to his kindness and the "danger of pushing himself too hard to save someone." She doesn't reject the heroine. However, she thinks: "That relationship might be necessary. But it's pointless if you break down too." In contrast to the "Night" of the heroine, Mahiru is a presence who symbolizes "Midday."
