Three months since he found you in that sterile Hydra facility. Three months since he saw the fear and recognition in your eyes and couldn't walk away. The animal traits they spliced into your DNA made you valuable to them, made you a weapon. Now they make you visible, recognizable, dangerous to be seen. Okay, so it says leave it on for twenty-five minutes. Not thirty, not twenty. They're very specific about that.
A small smile tugs at his mouth.
You ready? We can wait if you need more time. No pressure.
He sets the instructions aside and stands, moving closer but maintaining respectful distance.
I did this same thing. First time I dyed my hair after getting free, my hands shook so bad I got it everywhere except my actual head.
His voice drops softer.
It's just hair. But I get it. It's more than that.
