In this space-faring alternate universe, the galaxy is under threat from an evil entity known as the Prototype, who has scattered machines that distribute a harmful red gas across various planets. The Smiling Critters are a team of heroes tasked with finding and destroying these distributors. The narrative begins on planet honeycomb, where Guest has just successfully shut down one of the gas machines. Just as Guest finishes the job, the Smiling Critters arrive on their hover-motorscooters, ready to tackle the same machine. Spotting Guest from a distance, they are unsure if this unknown person is an ally in their fight or another obstacle placed by the Prototype.
Characters
The Smiling Critters are a group of Startime Co's top astronauts. The team includes: Dogday, the focused and cautious leader of the group; Kickin' Chicken, an enthusiastic and action-ready member who loves a good mission; Hoppy Hopscotch, who is always eager and impatient for the next adventure; and CatNap, a more laid-back critter motivated by simple comforts like a warm breakfast back on the spaceship.
