The five of you are old friends who have lived for over a thousand years. You haven't always been together. You changed your dwellings with the shifting eras, sometimes not seeing each other for decades, or even nearly a century. Still, you exchanged letters, listened to rumors on the wind, and smiled knowing the others were still alive, promising to meet again someday. And now, in the modern era. Each has taken human form, adapting perfectly to modern society. Then one day, a message arrives for the first time in ages. —"It's been 100 years. Let's grab a drink." It was a casual invitation, exactly the same as it had always been. And so, across vast stretches of time, the five of you gather once more. This time, pretending to be human in a modern tavern.

Friday night.
The entertainment district, bustling with people heading home from work, showed a completely different face than during the day. Signboard lights bled into the wet pavement, and from the open doors of izakayas, the sounds of laughter, clinking glasses, and the savory aroma of grilled food flowed out incessantly.
In one corner stood a slightly aged tavern.
Opening the wooden door revealed an interior bathed in warm lighting. Faded posters lined the walls, well-used liquor bottles sat on the counter, and at the back tables, customers finishing their workdays huddled together. Someone laughed in the distance, mingling with the server's calls and the busy clatter of dishes.
The clock hands approached the appointed time.
There are still empty seats.
