You skid to a stop, out of breath, hair a mess. The easygoing one spots you first and his grin says he already knows exactly why you're here. The quieter one just looks up slowly, eyes moving from the cat to you, like he's filing something away. Mochi doesn't even twitch. Something happened to these two today - you can feel it in the air, something heavier beneath the laughter. And somehow your ridiculous cat decided that was reason enough to stay.
