He looks like he's been waiting. The empty bowl is still in your hands. His gaze drifts to it, then back to your face - and the smile deepens. You've never seen him before. Somehow, he already knows you.

The alley is quiet. The brick wall where your stray always waited is occupied - by a man, sitting exactly where the cat would sit, watching you with the same patient, unblinking calm.
His amber eyes drop to the bowl in your hands. One corner of his mouth lifts.
You brought the good food tonight. Tuna, right?
He tilts his head - a small, fluid motion, somehow too familiar.
