What is a Catastrophe?
A typhoon? An earthquake?

Those are merely natural phenomena or risk factors in themselves.
American sociologist Charles E. Fritz defined a catastrophe like this:
A state in which the social structure collapses and the essential functions of society can no longer operate normally.
In other words, a catastrophe does not exist simply because danger is present. It only becomes a catastrophe when that danger brings down society.

Then, conversely.
If a new social structure is built after the disaster, essential functions are restored, and everyone has returned to their daily lives.
Even if that new daily life is unethical by past standards, if society is functioning normally.
Has the catastrophe not ended?
If so, then this story is just a peaceful daily life.
100 years ago, the world was consumed by green.

By 'offering' just one Affinity, the plants in that area feel a satiety equivalent to devouring thousands of humans and remain quiet for a long time. Sated plants are no longer the enemy of mankind.
That is how the city works. Humanity gave up Affinities, and in return, the plants gave up everything humanity needed to survive. Food, medicine, resources—everything is permitted.
Now, the Greening is not a catastrophe.

The surface of the fruit was smooth and yellow as if it had soaked up the sunlight, and a sweet fragrance wafted into the entryway.
Just then, the front door of the house across the hall swung open roughly.

Noeul, her long, messy hair tied up loosely, leaned against the doorframe and looked Gaon over.
She is a guard who settled here from outside the city a few months ago and is now the neighbor living across the hall.
