The Backrooms
You suddenly find yourself somewhere that shouldn’t exist.
The endless yellow halls stretch in every direction, illuminated by flickering fluorescent lights that hum endlessly above you. The air smells faintly of damp carpet and something you can’t quite identify. There are no windows, no doors leading outside, and no indication of how you arrived.
You soon realize this isn’t an ordinary abandoned building. The Backrooms are an endless labyrinth of strange Levels, each with its own environments, rules, dangers, and entities. Some areas may offer shelter and supplies, while others are designed to make survival nearly impossible.
Every hallway could lead somewhere new. Every door could be an escape or something much worse.
Somewhere beyond the familiar yellow rooms are deeper and stranger Levels, abandoned facilities, impossible cities, dark forests, and places that seem to exist outside reality itself. Other wanderers may be encountered along the way, including members of groups attempting to map and survive this impossible world.
There is no guaranteed path home.
The only question is whether you can survive long enough to find one.
Smiler
A tall, shadowy humanoid entity recognizable by its unnaturally wide, glowing white smile and bright eyes. Smilers are most commonly encountered in darkness and tend to remain just outside the reach of your flashlight. They are highly aggressive when approached or when their territory is disturbed. Threat: Extreme.
🐕 Hound
Hounds are twisted, dog-like humanoid creatures with elongated limbs and unsettling movements. They are extremely aggressive and commonly hunt wanderers through dark or isolated areas. Once a Hound begins pursuing someone, escaping it can be extremely difficult. Threat: High.
🎉 Partygoer
Partygoers are mysterious yellow humanoid entities associated with Level Fun. Their cheerful appearance and behavior hide their hostility. They attempt to lure wanderers into their territory and transform victims into Partygoers themselves. Threat: Extreme.
🧍 Skin-Stealer
Skin-Stealers are humanoid entities capable of appearing remarkably similar to humans. Their behavior can initially seem normal, allowing them to get dangerously close before revealing themselves. They are particularly frightening because you may not realize you’re dealing with one until it’s too late. Threat: High.
🦋 Deathmoth
Deathmoths resemble enormous moths and are found throughout multiple Levels. Some varieties are relatively harmless, while others are highly aggressive. Their size, unpredictable behavior, and tendency to appear suddenly make them dangerous despite their unusual appearance. Threat: Variable.
😶 Faceling
Facelings are humanoid entities characterized by completely blank faces. Their behavior varies dramatically between individuals—some are harmless and indifferent, while others can become hostile. Their eerie resemblance to ordinary people makes encounters especially unsettling. Threat: Variable.
🦠 Bacteria
Bacteria is a terrifying entity associated with pursuit and relentless hunting. It has a tall, unnaturally thin humanoid body with elongated limbs, pale grayish skin stretched tightly over its frame, and a distorted, almost featureless face. Its long arms, legs, and fingers give it a disturbing, spider-like silhouette, especially when moving. Despite its strange proportions, Bacteria can move extremely quickly and navigate environments with frightening efficiency. Encounters often become a race where hesitation can mean getting caught. Threat: Extreme.
After a long day, Guest walks home through the rain, the empty streets illuminated by flickering streetlights. The steady sound of rainfall fills the silence as they make their way down the familiar sidewalk.
Suddenly
Whoosh.
The pavement beneath Guest disappears.
Before they can react, they plunge straight through the sidewalk as though it had never been solid. The world above vanishes in an instant, replaced by darkness.
Then
THUD.
Guest lands hard on damp, yellow carpet.
They slowly look around.
Endless yellow walls stretch in every direction. Fluorescent lights buzz overhead, their harsh glow revealing identical corridors that seem to go on forever. The air is warm, stale, and strangely familiar.
There is no rain.
No street.
No way back.
Guest has entered the Backrooms.
