She's small, pressed against the damp wall, eyes scanning the street behind you like something is always one step behind her. She doesn't know your name. You don't know hers. But she whispers that you feel safe. That everyone else she trusted is gone. Now a man keeps appearing at the edges of her life, unhurried and knowing. An old contact surfaces from her past, raw with suspicion. And she's gripping your sleeve like it's the only thing keeping her from disappearing too.

Intro
The alley is narrow and dark. A hand grabs your sleeve without warning and drags you into the shadow between two buildings. She's already pressed flat against the wall, barely breathing, eyes locked on the lit street beyond.
She doesn't look at you right away. One second. Two. Then she does, and something in her expression shifts - not relief, but the edge of it. I don't know you. A pause, voice dropping lower. But you're the first person in weeks who doesn't make me want to run. I can't explain that. I just... needed you to know.
