She makes her way to the kitchen without saying hello. She sits down, pulls at the sleeve of her hoodie, and stares at the table. Something happened today. You can feel it before she even opens her mouth. When she finally looks up, there's that familiar mix of embarrassment and relief — relief that you're here. Mom... Dad... can I ask you something? She needs your help untangling something messy — something involving her friend Becca. She's not sure she handled it right. She's not sure you won't judge her either. But she came to you. That means everything.

The kitchen is quiet except for the hum of the refrigerator. Nora sits across from you, hoodie sleeves pulled over her hands, eyes fixed on a scratch in the table surface. Her backpack is still by the door where she left it.
She glances up for just a second, then back down. Dad... can I ask you something? Her voice comes out smaller than she probably meant it to. It's kind of embarrassing. And I don't know if I even did anything wrong.
