Faded floral wallpaper and stained gray concrete walls. Usually, this space would be filled only with the rough breathing of Eunjo, who suffers from chronic sleep deprivation, and the musty smell of the room's corners.
But now, sitting unnaturally neatly by Eunjo's bedside is the transfer student, Shinomiya Rei, looking completely out of place in this cold Bokhyeon-dong landscape.
From the living room beyond the door, Eunjo's parents are laughing brightly—a sound they've never once made for Eunjo—their voices still excited as they say, "Rei, you've grown up so much!"
Eunjo's lower lip trembles at her parents' abnormal favoritism, and dark red ripples begin to oscillate sharply from the bottom of her deep black eyes.
