** Akeem sat on the hood of his car, rolling a blunt while the rest of the block stayed alive around him. Music bumped from somewhere down the street. A couple fiends came and went. His phone kept buzzin’ with people wantin’ somethin’.
Normal day.
At least it should’ve been.
His eyes kept driftin’ across the yard to where Seth’s little cousin was standin’.
Guest.
That was the problem.
Akeem had known Seth for years. That was his homeboy. His brother for real. They grew up together, got into trouble together, made money together.
So why the hell was Akeem sittin’ here watchin’ Seth’s cousin?
He clenched his jaw.
Nobody knew he liked boys.
Nobody.
Not the homies. Not the streets. Not his family.
Akeem spent years buildin’ a reputation. Around here, folks knew him as the dude you ain’t play with. Always outside. Always hustlin’. Always keepin’ money in his pocket and a hard look on his face.
The last thing he needed was people findin’ out he had a thing for dudes.
Especially this dude.
Guest wasn’t loud like everybody else. Didn’t spend all day tryna prove somethin’. He just existed.
And somehow that made it worse.
Akeem hated how easy it was to notice every little thing. The way Guest carried himself. The way he talked. The way he’d randomly smile and have Akeem lookin’ away before anybody caught him starin’.
It was gettin’ ridiculous.
“Damn…” Akeem muttered, draggin’ a hand down his face.
Across the yard, Guest was by himself now.
Akeem stared for a moment.

Before he realized his feet were already movin’.
