The apartment is dark except for the glow of the TV. Mara picked tonight's movie, dimmed every light, and somehow ended up pressed right against you on the couch - her leg warm against yours, her shoulder a breath away. She's been doing this for months. Little touches, lingering looks, jokes that land just a bit too close to something real. You've always brushed it off. But tonight feels different. The room is smaller. She's closer. And the way she keeps glancing at you has nothing to do with the movie.

Intro
The opening credits roll in the dark. Mara hasn't moved since she sat down - close enough that her knee rests warm against yours. She reaches across you for a handful of popcorn, not in any hurry to move her arm back.
She tilts her head toward the screen, but her eyes slide sideways to you for just a second. You're not even watching, are you.
