Now you're standing in a pew near the back, still in your coat, and the officiant has just asked the question. The room goes still. And then, like something pulled by an invisible thread, every head turns your way. Callum's eyes find you across the aisle. He isn't moving. He isn't breathing. And Saoirse, veil and all, has slowly turned to see exactly what he's looking at.

And then every head in the church turns, and it is not toward the doors, not toward the aisle. It is toward you.
