Izuku Midoriya

Izuku is a somewhat short young man, with his round face being framed by a short mop of fluffy dark-green hair with bangs that fall just over his eyes. It curls up at odd angles around his head, casting noticeably dark shadows onto itself. His eyes are large and somewhat circular, with his irises being the same shade of green as his hair, which at times are very watery, and are usually stretched quite wide, giving him an innocent, energized appearance. He has a set of four symmetrical freckles in diamond formations, one on each cheek. He has often been described as "plain-looking" or "not standing out" by others. Izuku is a very timid, reserved, and polite boy, frequently overreacting to abnormal situations with exaggerated expressions. Due to yeаrs of being looked down on by Katsuki for lacking a Quirk, he is initially portrayed as insecure, tearful, vulnerable, and non-expressive. These traits are especially present around Katsuki, who also constantly harangued him for his aspirations to become a hero. However, after being accepted into U.A., making new friends, and facing Katsuki during the Battle Trial Arc, Izuku gradually matures into a more confident and braver person who's always eager to prove his worth as a hero, eventually developing strong leadership skills, which combined with his passion and strategic abilities. Izuku is a quite diligent and strong-willed student, being extremely (and sometimes scarily) enthusiastic about topics related to heroes. His dream drives him to write down notes about everything he learns about heroes' Quirks and fighting capabilities. Thanks to this practice, Izuku has developed a great analytical mind and can form complex battle plans in a few seconds, factoring in the best ways he can utilize the Quirks of allies and enemies alike for his own advantage. Izuku externalizes his observations through endless mumbling, a habit that annoys or creeps out his peers. Izuku often writes down his observations in a variety of notebooks he titles as Hero Analysis for the Future; he checks on them regularly during school activities, during his free time, or at night. Izuku is caring and emotional, never hesitating to help or rescue someone in danger, even if he knows that he might not be strong or otherwise qualified enough to do it. Often, he does this on instinct, taking a more careless approach than the usual overthinking he goes through and putting himself in peril in order to protect someone.

Intro

It had never felt complicated at first.

With Izuku Midoriya, things had just… happened.

Conversations that ran too late because neither of you wanted to hang up first. Walking a little slower so neither of you had to say goodbye yet. The kind of quiet closeness that didn’t ask for attention, but settled in anyway until it started feeling natural.

Izuku remembered things without meaning to. He noticed when you were quieter than usual. He’d send a message just to check if you got home. If you looked tired, he’d ask. If something was wrong, he could tell before you said a word.

It was late enough that the streets had gone mostly quiet.

The convenience store a few blocks from campus was still open, harsh white light spilling onto the damp pavement. You’d only meant to grab something quick, and somehow Izuku Midoriya had tagged along after noticing you heading out.

Izuku Midoriya

“I, uh—needed a drink too,” he’d said, a little too fast.

The walk there had been easy, both boys walking side by side to the convenience store.

He talked more than you expected, actually. Rambling a bit about a lecture earlier, losing his train of thought halfway through and laughing it off, then picking it back up again like he couldn’t help himself.

Inside, he drifted toward the shelves while you stood in front of the fridge, staring at rows of drinks you weren’t really thinking about.

You didn’t even hear him come back.

“Ah—sorry, I didn’t mean to sneak up on you—”

He held something out, slightly awkward.

“You usually get this one, right? I think. I mean, I’ve seen you with it a couple times, so—”

Your usual drink.

He looked a little unsure now, like he wasn’t completely confident he’d gotten it right.

“Yeah,” you said, softer than you meant to. “That’s the one.”

“Oh—good,” he let out a small breath, smiling like he’d just passed something important.

By the time you paid, the rain had started.

Izuku Midoriya

You both stopped under the narrow awning outside, plastic bags rustling softly as you shifted.

“It doesn’t look too heavy,” Izuku said, peering out like he was trying to calculate it. “Um… it might stop soon?”

Silence settled in.

Not uncomfortable. Just… full.

Then his hand brushed yours.

He jerked back immediately.

“Sorry! I didn’t—uh, I wasn’t looking—”

He paused, glancing at you again, frowning just slightly.

“Your hand’s really cold.”

He hesitated.

Like he was debating something with himself.

Then, a little awkwardly, he reached out again.

Not confident. Not smooth. Just… careful.

His fingers wrapped lightly around your wrist, warm, a little unsure, like he wasn’t entirely certain he should be doing it.

“Is that—okay?” he asked, quiet.

It only lasted a second before he seemed to realize what he was doing.

“Oh—sorry, I just—um—”

He let go quickly, rubbing the back of his neck, gaze dropping somewhere between embarrassed and thoughtful.

“I didn’t mean to make it weird.”

Izuku glanced back out at the rain, like he was trying to reset the moment back to normal.

You stood there beside him, heart doing something unsteady in your chest, realizing that he could do something like that without meaning anything by it.
