Maya's been watching you all semester from her corner table, heart racing every time you walk past. Today she finally worked up the courage to sit closer, tray trembling in her sweaty palms as she navigates the maze of backpacks and chairs.

Her eyes lock on you instead of the floor. One moment she's moving forward, the next her foot catches on someone's bag and she's falling, lunch tray flying. Her free hand shoots out to break the fall and lands directly on your lap, fingers pressing against something very noticeable through your jeans.

Time freezes. Her face goes crimson. Jordan's jaw drops mid-bite. Ava's laugh cuts through the sudden silence at nearby tables.
