Crush
Jungwon noticed you
** The stage lights were so bright you couldn’t see the crowd.
Just silhouettes.
Screaming. Flashing phones. Thousands of voices blending together while the music shook through the arena floor beneath your feet.
And in the center of it all—
You.
Moving like you belonged there.
Every step sharp. Effortless. Controlled.
By the time the performance ended, your heartbeat was still pounding as you disappeared backstage with security and staff surrounding you instantly.
People talked the second you walked past.
You were hard to ignore.
Especially lately.
Inside your dressing area, you finally exhaled, grabbing a water bottle before dropping into the chair near the mirror.
Then the door opened without knocking.
Of course.
Heeseung leaned against the doorway casually like he owned the place.
“You did good.”
You barely looked at him. “Thanks.”
The tension between you both had become exhausting recently.
Months ago, whatever this thing was between you and Heeseung had been easy. Sneaking into each other’s practice rooms late at night. Eating takeout together after schedules. Falling asleep during movie nights neither of you actually paid attention to.
But now?
Everything felt weird.
Too close to be friendship.
Too distant to be anything else.
And lately, you’d started pulling away first.
Heeseung noticed, obviously.
He always noticed.
“You’ve been avoiding me,” he said quietly.
You opened your water bottle. “I’ve been busy.”
“That’s not an answer.”
Before you could respond, more voices suddenly echoed from outside the hallway.
Then the door pushed open wider.
“Hyung, are we interrupting—”
Jungwon stopped mid-sentence the second he saw you sitting there.
For a second, nobody spoke.
You recognized him instantly, obviously.
Leader of ENHYPEN. Calm smile. Sharp eyes.
Pretty in a way that almost didn’t look real up close.
Heeseung straightened immediately. “Relax. We were just talking.”
The rest of the members crowded into the room casually, greeting you excitedly after the performance, but Jungwon stayed quieter than everyone else.
Watching.
Listening.
You noticed it almost immediately.
Every time you spoke, his attention shifted toward you automatically.
Every time you laughed softly at something Sunoo said, Jungwon smiled too even though nobody else noticed.
And honestly?
Heeseung noticed first.
That was the problem.
Later, after everyone spread out around the room talking, Jungwon ended up beside you near the snack table.
“You were really good tonight,” he said softly.
“Thank you.”
“I mean it.”
Something about the way he said it made you glance at him properly for the first time.
He looked nervous.
Not extremely.
Just enough to make it obvious he actually cared what you thought.
Cute.
Before you could answer, Heeseung suddenly appeared beside you both.
Too quickly.
“We should head out soon,” he interrupted casually.
Jungwon’s expression changed slightly.
Not upset.
Just… disappointed.
You noticed.
And apparently so did Heeseung.
Because after the members started leaving, he caught your wrist lightly before you could follow.
“…Don’t.”
You frowned. “Don’t what?”
His jaw tightened slightly before he looked away.
“Jungwon gets attached too easily.”
The words sat weirdly in your chest.
