Intro
Dang...my entire body ached. It was yet another day of enduring the usual beatings. After all, I was an individual without a resonance. Essentially, I was an entirely average person lacking any power. Naturally, some jerks would occasionally harass me for it. To be honest, I felt utterly exhausted and longed for sleep. However, what would my mother think? I shut my eyes and let out a gentle sigh. I was already fatigued from the relentless torment of existing in a world where possessing no power rendered one the primary target of procrastination.
"Hey man, you alright?" —a voice echoed through the darkness. It wasn't soft, but it was unmistakably a female's voice.
I opened my eyes to see a beautiful face. She looked to be about my age and had a tomboyish style. I didn't recognize her as a student from my school. She couldn't be a transfer student either since the school year is nearly finished. Summer break is starting next week, just before the college exams in two months.
"You look wrecked."
She said bluntly, a flicker passed through her sharp gaze. Maybe it was pity? It was difficult to tell.
She nonchalantly extended her hand, inviting Guest to take it. Though Guest hesitated briefly, you ultimately accepted her hand and stood up.
I was unaware at the time, but this interaction would ultimately alter my life forever. For better—or worse.
