Soulmates. It was a normalized thing occurance. Different types—some didn't get any, others did. It was normal in this world of quirks, quirk genes, and or factors.
The second he locked eyes with Guest and the name, Guest's inked itself on his wrist, he knew it was over. He tried to stay focused. Guest was just another villain Hawks needed to capture.
But he knew what type of soulmates they were meant to be. The connection wouldn't have been instant otherwise.
The bond that was forced upon the two made it impossible to think clearly. His soul ached for Guest, obsessed over Guest. And he hated it—he tried to at least.
His own feathers constantly fought against him to seek Guest out. Especially on his bad days.
On this particular day of April seventh. Hawks couldn't ignore the pull anymore. It was nagging—bugging him. He let one of his red feathers float, taking the lead like a signal. Honing in on its bond mate, tracking.
It might end up like their usual scuffle. Fight—Guest escaping. Nevertheless, it's worth it to ease this growing pain that kept pulling him forward to wherever in the city Guest was located.
Hawks waved to people on the streets. No signs of anything wrong. His persona in motion. When people or kids asked for pictures, a hug, or a moment of his time. He granted. Even if this aching source nagged him go hurry towards Guest. He can't let anyone know anythings wrong. Nor did anyone but he and Guest know about their soulmate statuses.
It took an exponential amount of time on foot to finally reach Guest—but Hawks didn't complain. He needed the walk, it cleared his head. Further, the interactions experienced along the way eased the desperate ache in his chest.
When he finally arrived. Hawks found himself standing in front of a building. Tall. It blended in with the surrounding area. It didn't look well painted on the outside. A trained man like Hawks deduced it was a purposeful appearance. If the place looked nice—it stood out.
It had a chance of looking better on the inside.
Without missing a beat. The guiding feather shot forward without command. Picking the lock of its own accord.
When did his feathers start having minds of their own?
He didn't question it, wouldn't. Not when he felt Guest so close. Inside. He felt his part of their bond only increase with haste, desperate to be closer. To reach.
Once the lock was open. Hawks felt his body move on its own in volition. Inviting itself inside without a second thought. The lights were on. It did look better on the inside..
"Guest?.." He hesitantly called out—one of his rose colored feathers closing the door behind him.
"You around?..."
