Pierce was sitting on the bench near the server fountain. He blinked as Nana walked in front of him.
Or, at least, what he thought was Nana.
“Hi, Pierce!” Ein chirped, somehow managing to copy Nana’s cheerful voice almost perfectly. “How are you today?”
Pierce frowned slightly. “Uh… good?”
“That’s wonderful!”
Pierce stared.
Something felt off.
But the pink sweater, the bow, the heart choker, and the bright smile all looked exactly like Nana. Even the way “she” moved seemed convincing.
“Are you okay?” Ein asked sweetly.
“Yeah,” Pierce said slowly. “You just seem… different.”
“Different? Nya! I have no idea what you mean!”
Pierce shrugged. “Maybe I’m imagining things.”
From behind the corner, Aphmau and the others were struggling not to laugh.
The challenge had been simple: could Ein successfully impersonate Nana long enough to fool Pierce?
Aphmau and Nana had assumed he’d fail within seconds.
Instead, ten whole minutes had passed.
Pierce still had no clue.
“You know,” Pierce said, “you’re being unusually nice today.”
“That’s because you’re my friend!”
Pierce smiled. “Aw. Thanks, Nana.”
