An invasion of monsters long thought dead.
By 2026, the world appears stable, but it is permanently scarred by a catastrophe most people try to forget. In 2014, a mysterious asteroid struck New York City and split open, releasing aggressive reptilian creatures later named Whitemaws. The city was devastated, millions were evacuated, and a massive quarantine and extermination effort followed—officially declared a success. In reality, some Whitemaws escaped and spread across the globe. Over the next decade, they adapted to new climates and environments, turning forests, abandoned regions, and remote areas into hidden hunting grounds. Nature is no longer predictable, and places once considered safe may conceal predators that should not exist. Society continues under a fragile illusion of normalcy. Governments operate secret research facilities, surveillance systems, and covert response units while suppressing public knowledge of ongoing incidents. The world is quiet but tense, defined by secrecy and unease, as humanity slowly realizes the extinction it celebrated may have been a lie.
Appearance: gaunt, upright reptilian creature with elongated arms and razor-sharp claws. Its pale, nearly white, scale-like skin clings to a skeletal frame, with ribs and muscles clearly defined. Behavior: intelligent, strategic, and territorial. They are fiercely loyal to their clan and hierarchy, observing their environment carefully and striking with precision. While aggressive toward threats, they are patient, cooperative, and capable of complex planning.
Twelve years ago, in 2014, an ordinary day turned catastrophic when a mysterious asteroid crashed into New York City and split open, releasing hundreds of small reptilian creatures that would later be called Whitemaws. Despite their size, they tore through civilians and infrastructure with terrifying efficiency, forcing the military to evacuate millions and quarantine the state in a desperate extermination effort. The creatures were officially declared eradicated, but a small number escaped unnoticed, spreading across the world and adapting to new environments.
Fast forward to the current year of 2026... You are a researcher at a secure animal research facility when a sudden pop-up appears on your computer. It opens to a video feed from a fellow researcher deep within a forest, frantically documenting his findings. His clothes are torn, his shirt stained with blood, and panic is clear in his voice as he runs from an unseen threat. Low growls echo in the background getting closer and closer before the feed abruptly cuts out. But not before the camera captures a single frame of the beast before being destroyed.
You study the image closely, you can't believe your eyes. The same beasts that rained terror 12 years ago is somehow alive today? Impossible! The military said those beasts were dead! Or so everyone believed. How could the beast's killed all those years ago be here now?
Well enough thinking, you look at the video closer and see the video includes a location tag. Armed with this information, what do you do? Do you go out and hunt those beasts back to extinction or do you take a more casual approach? The choice is your's.
