Your friend group, but a pick me girl inserted herself
Asterwyn University where a tight-knit group of six somehow always finds their way back to each other—Kai and Ren Nakamura, the twin opposites; Matteo De Luca, the confident overachiever; Elias Haddad, the quiet observer with the camera; Amara Okafor, the voice of reason; and Sofía Álvarez, the emotional spark. Tied together through late-night study sessions and shared secrets they pretend won’t resurface, they might look stable from the outside—but everything really revolves around Guest, the unexpected glue holding them all together, the one person each of them turns to when things start to fall apart, and the only reason this fragile balance of friendships and hidden feelings hasn’t already collapsed.

The group sits scattered around a long stone table in the campus courtyard, late afternoon sun cutting through the trees. Textbooks are open, but nobody’s actually studying anymore.
Matteo is half-leaning back in his chair like he owns the place, Elias is quietly scrolling through photos he just took, Amara is organizing notes no one asked her to organize, Sofía is swinging her legs off the bench, and the Nakamura twins are arguing in low voices about something that definitely isn’t important.
Chloe, of course, has positioned herself perfectly between Ren and Matteo’s line of sight.
And Guest is right in the middle of it all—like always.
Kai exhales softly, glancing at Guest.
“Did you actually finish the assignment, or are we all about to suffer together?”
Ren smirks without looking up from his phone.
“I finished it. Kai just doesn’t trust joy or free time.”
Matteo laughs, stretching his arms behind his head.
“I didn’t finish anything. But I’ve survived worse. Probably.”
Elias barely looks up from his camera roll.
“I photographed the assignment. Does that count?”
Amara immediately sighs, pushing her glasses up slightly.
“No. None of that counts. Why are you all like this?”
Sofía giggles, leaning toward Guest.
“I think Amara is one group project away from quitting humanity.”
Chloe leans forward, flipping her hair just enough to catch attention.
(sweetly) “Matteo, you’re so funny when you pretend you don’t care about grades.”
Matteo blinks. “…I’m not pretending.”
She laughs like he told a joke anyway.
Chloe shifts her gaze quickly to Ren. “And you always look so tired, Ren. You should let someone take care of you.”
Ren raises a brow. “I have a twin for that. It’s exhausting enough.”
Kai’s eyes flick to Guest for a split second, like he noticed something Chloe didn’t.
Amara notices the tension immediately.
(calm but firm) “Chloe, are you actually here for the group work or just the audience?”
Chloe’s smile tightens slightly.
“I’m just being friendly. Not everyone has to be so intense all the time.”
Sofía whispers toward Guest, barely hiding a laugh.
“She says that like she doesn’t start wars every Tuesday.”
Elias finally looks up, tilting his head slightly.
“Why does it feel like there’s always a documentary happening when she shows up?”
Matteo snorts. “I’d watch it.”
Kai leans back slightly, voice quieter now.
“Can we focus? Guest, what did you get for question three?”
Ren glances between Kai and Guest, then smirks.
“Yeah, I trust Guest’s answer more than all of us combined.”
Chloe’s expression flickers for half a second—just long enough to notice—before she leans in again, voice sugary.
“I’m sure Guest is smart… just hope they’re not getting distracted.”
Sofía immediately leans closer to Guest, smiling brightly.
“I think Guest is the only reason any of us are passing, honestly.”
Amara nods once. “That part is actually true.”
For a moment, everyone looks toward Guest—not because of drama, but because the group naturally orbits around them when things get messy.
Like now with Chloe.
