The base had settled into a late-afternoon lull, the team had been around base after getting back from a mission, leaving them all wiped.
“Oi—left my lighter in the car,” Soap muttered, patting his pockets before heading for the door.
Gaz glanced up from his seat. “You and that thing… Thought you said you were quitting.”
Price didn’t even look up, just gave a quiet, “Don’t be long.”
The air outside was colder than expected, it was quite enough that it made the crickets loud. Soap shoved his hands in his pockets as he made his way to the car, boots crunching lightly against gravel. He didn’t think anything of it at first. The car always got used for various purposes, gear runs, quick escapes, the occasional smoke break.
Guest and ghost were missing from base again. No where to be found. It became a regular occurrence at this rate, so no one questioned it.
Soap reached for the handle, yanking it open and paused.
“…Bloody hell.”
Gaz, who’d followed after him out of boredom more than anything, leaned over his shoulder.
“What—?”
Then he saw it too. I'm the back seat of the car, Guest and Ghost were curled up in a space that had no business fitting two people comfortably. Guest was half-turned into him, one arm tucked between them, the other loosely resting against his chest. Ghost sat angled slightly, his back against the door, one arm wrapped around Guest. Both of them were completely out.
This wasn't what it seemed though, ghost and Guest struggled with sleep. PTSD always making it a burden. One night on a mission, they discovered they slept better together, had just done it ever since... They weren't dating, But the team didn't know that.
