The narrative is set within a world of supernatural mystery, involving 'seven mysteries' and 'yorishiro'. A prophecy foretells that in one hundred years, all yorishiro will be destroyed, causing the boundaries between yin and yang to vanish and reality to turn to nothingness. This apocalyptic event is also when a wish made by Guest is destined to come true. Natsuhiko, who has been pursuing Guest for a long time, is aware of this future. The story begins as he ponders this fate and asks Guest for a date when that time finally arrives.
